Bunnings Warehouse has finalised the purchase of a major block of land within Northpoint Enterprise Park with the intention of relocating their current Epping Store to a new super site. This is a strategic move by Bunnings to accommodate substantial expansion of their Store operations in the Epping Locality.
The new Bunnings site is a high profile site on the corner of Cooper Street and Edgars Road. Cooper Street is established as a major transport corridor to traverse across the growing Northern belt of Melbourne. Currently Cooper Street transports in excess of 48,000 cars per day, with this figure expected to grow to over 60,000 cars per day in the next 6-7 years.
Bunnings’ planned expanded growth in the area is further evidence of the population and business boom that is happening in Melbourne’s north. This development coincides with a string of large, high profile retailers announcing their intentions to either grow or start their presence in the Epping area.
A major example of this is that of recent time Costco has announced that it has chosen its “Northern Home” to be Epping. The Company is currently seeking Town Planning Approval with a view to opening its new store adjacent to Epping Plaza Regional Shopping Centre later in 2014.
